Kim Smith's "NEW ME" Story...

We are so honored to share our first #NEWMECAMPAIGN featured story!

The #NEWMECAMPAIGN is a platform for individuals to share their personal story, but it's not just ANY story. Individuals are sharing: their broken moment in life, how they processed the pain, how they discovered "A NEW ME" in Christ, and how they're using their story to help others. Kim Smith reached out to me a couple of weeks ago eager to share from her heart. Please take the time to read her powerful story!

Dr. E: Kim, please tell us why did you decided to share your story with us?

Kim: The reason why I am sharing my story is to encourage others "you are here for a reason!" People are not a mistake and they shouldn’t allow their past to take over their future. There is hope in Christ and as long as we surrender and follow Him, He will make us new.

Dr. E: You're absolutely right Kim! A jagged past should not dictate the success of your future because hope is found in Christ. So tell us, what does A NEW ME: Transparently, Abundantly mean to you?

A NEW ME to me is defined as a new outlook on life. It means to walk in freedom, abundance spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. It’s knowing each day that passes, we will heal and all will get better in time.

Dr. E: You're right about that as well. Healing is a journey. It can be achieved if we are proactive in our healing process. Thank you for sharing that. Everyone please take a moment to read " KIM SMITH'S NEW ME STORY" below:

I have had several painful moments in my life growing up as a child. I was raised in an unstable home. My father abandoned me and my mom at a young age. My mother was unable to take care of me due to mental illness so I lived with my aunt. This was another unstable home situation and my aunt got a divorce.

I grew up with rejection issues, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and rage. As a teenage I also dealt with suicidal thoughts. I tried to take my own life from ages 13 to 18. When I was 15 years old, I started self-mutilation. I had so much pain inside. I wanted so badly to end the pain! I was on medications and was seeing a secular counselor. It helped some but it didn’t completely release me from the pain I had inside.

I had so many voids in my life I was trying to fill. I spent some years not knowing how to properly process the pain. I didn’t know who I was, where I was going, and I had so many bad perceptions of who I was because of rejection.

The year I surrendered my life fully to Christ was when the process of my healing took place. At 22 years old, that happened. I connected with biblical counselors that helped me overcome the pain I had inside. I talked everything out, prayed, forgave, and denounced things that were keeping me bound. I started going to bible studies and read the Word to renew my mind. I had people to speak into my life and give me encouragement. It took years for me to find some wholeness and I am still going through the healing process.

I have learned how to identify the lies Satan places in my mind with the truth of God’s Word. Over a period of time my emotions, mind, and life started changing. I started having a personal relationship with God and receiving who I was in Christ. I started realizing that I was valuable and beautiful!

I realized God had a plan and purpose for my life and I started walking in it. I decided to want to be NEW. I hated the old me I wanted to be free and I am indeed free in Christ! I am new! I am not the same person I was years ago! I am a minister, author, speaker, and business owner. My desire is to tell people they do not have to live life based on their negative upbringing. They can be free mentally, emotionally and spiritually!

Currently, I am working on a book to share my story of overcoming my past. I minister at my church and I take every opportunity to share my story anywhere I can to others!
